Who Am I?

My name is Delaney Harbeck. I am an English secondary education major with a minor in History, set to graduate from Northern Michigan University in the fall of 2022. I am a lover of the arts: painting, writing, dancing, and music. Writing remains to be my favorite form of expression. This is part of the reason I chose to pursue a career teaching English. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of having a class of my own. One of my biggest goals is to be there for each and every one of my students, supporting both their academic and personal growth as students and human beings.

My Philosophy

The classroom should be a safe space for children to learn, grow, and heal. Creating a classroom environment where students feel safe both physically and emotionally is my top priority. A school is a place of learning, but we must not limit ourselves to academics. In my classroom, I want students to learn about themselves and the world around them. I want it to be the place we have tough, essential conversations. This environment is built on mutual respect, engaging lessons, and providing students with a purpose for their learning.
