Digital Collaboration

ISTE 3.a. Create experiences for learners to make positive, socially responsible contributions and exhibit empathetic behavior online that build relationships and community.

Jamboard is an excellent tool used for collaboration. One benefit of using Jamboard as a tool for collaboration is that it is mostly anonymous, meaning people can post any question or thought they may have without it being directly tied to them specifically. However, the anonymous factor proposes a challenge for participants to conduct themselves in an appropriate, socially responsible manner online. In a high school classroom setting, this means monitoring of the Jamboard is important. This is a Jamboard I created for one of my courses where my classmates could participate and collaborate in a discussion about the book we are reading.

Collaborative Coding

ISTE 2.4.b. Collaborate and co-learn with students to discover and use new digital resources and diagnose and troubleshoot technology issues.

Within the course of ED483 Educational Media Technology, I have had the opportunity to experience authentic coding for the first time. In teams, we spent a class period learning how to code robots to perform different sequences of actions. One of my teammates had some prior knowledge and experience with coding, but for myself and my other teammates, this was our first time doing anything like this. We watched the tutorials provided online and worked together to create some fascinating and exciting codes. This is something I am not sure I could pick up as quickly without the help of my colleagues, therefore I was grateful for the collaborative learning that occurred throughout this project.
